 Kento Momota  (桃田 賢斗,  Momota Kento , born 1 September 1994)  is a Japanese badminton player  from club NTT East. He is known for his explosive moves and unpredictable playing style. He won all matches as Japan clinched the Thomas Cup title in 2014, playing the second men's singles behind  Kenichi Tago. He is the first Japanese badminton player to win  the Singapore Open. With this victory, he became the first Japanese player to win the Super Series title in men's singles. In 2015, at the Sudirman Cup, he repeated his feat in the Thomas Cup to help Japan take second place in the tournament. He made history again at  the 2015 BWF World Championships  which took place at  Istora Senayan , Jakarta . His achievements in this tournament made him the first Japanese player to medal in the men's singles at a world championship.
